The Young Bulawayo girl breaks the cycle…

As a victim of school bullying, Kim found herself eating lunches in school bathrooms to avoid isolation, however this did not dim her shine to success. School life in Zimbabwe may have been difficult, but through focus and perseverance and achieving her academic goals, landed her a spot at  Stellenbosch University in South Africa, studying Social Work.

Whilst at Stellies, her modeling career sparked, showcasing her natural talents in front of the camera. This led to going against the expectations of her parents, she felt it necessary to prove them wrong.

Kim’s REV-olutionary rise to fame:

Taking her modeling career seriously after university and starting @kimjayde’s Instagram page, set her on the path to success. With no financial support from family and friends, Kim found herself in house-shares and barely making ends meet but this did not discourage her.

Kim’s talent had reached Viacom International, the umbrella company for BET, MTV, and Comedy Central to name a few. And so her TV presenter era began by hosting News-ish on MTV Base.

RE-inVenting the Entertainment Industry

Leaving modeling behind, her hunger to reach and achieve more milestones in the entertainment industry, began her segment,” The DM with Kim Jayde”.  Speaking for the youth of South Africa back then, we were hooked!

Kim was slowly becoming a household name for young adults all over South Africa, her morals and dedication, inspired the youth and was noticed by many International brands, leading her to impressive collaborations and partnerships.  By her mid-to-late twenties, Kim had become the face of MTV and Revlon, she was one of the first Zimbabweans to make the Africa Forbes 30 Under 30.

The present Kim Jayde

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kim put time into  REV–italising and reinventing herself.

Her pandemic baby “Kicking it with Kim Jayde” was born, combining her love for fashion and entertainment into one. Collaborations with other celebrities and showcasing her authentic sneaker collection, resonanted with South Africans. This venture landed her partnerships with amazing South African designers and international brands like NBA, and DKNY.

Although Kim might not be on our TVs every day, she has now branched into becoming Steyn Entertainment’s Head of PR and Marketing agent. We are still inspired by her strength in breaking barriers and being able to give back to the people of South Africa.
