Spoiled for choice between V6 and V8 motors in recent years? Aston Martin is about to change the game. The Valkyrie Hypercar, a racing prototype version of Aston Martin’s ultimate powerhouse, is set to challenge for overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans starting in 2025. It’s not just a race; it’s a V12-powered spectacle!
But Aston Martin isn’t stopping there. Thanks to the support of their championship-winning endurance racing partner, Heart of Racing (HoR), at least one Valkyrie racecar will rev its way into the top Hypercar class of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championships (IMSA). That means you can catch the Valkyrie at three of sportscar racing’s most prestigious events: Le Mans, the Rolex 24 at Daytona, and the 12 Hours of Sebring.
The Valkyrie AMR Pro, initially designed for LMH hypercar regulations, is now undergoing a transformation into a competition prototype for racing within predefined aerodynamic and power performance limits. This move ensures parity with direct competition in WEC, setting the stage for its homologation in the WEC Hypercar and IMSA GTP classes ahead of the 2025 season.
Under the hood of this race-optimized carbon-fiber chassis beauty is a modified version of the sensational Cosworth-built 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine. In standard form, it revs up to a mind-blowing 11,000 rpm and delivers over 1000 bhp (>745 kW). Aston Martin is taking it a step further by enhancing the power unit to meet the critical Balance of Performance requirements of the Hypercar class. The engine will be developed to withstand the rigors of top-level long-distance competition. And here’s the kicker: the battery-electric hybrid system found in the road-spec Valkyrie is absent from the race car, contributing to weight reduction and a purer V12 experience.
So, get ready to witness the Valkyrie Hypercar redefining the auditory landscape of motorsport. The V12 symphony is back, and it’s ready to echo through the legendary circuits of Le Mans and beyond! Turn up the volume, because the Valkyrie is set to be the soundtrack of racing glory in 2025.
