Savory Delight: Chicken and Cheese Pastry Rolls for a Flavorful Feast

 

No dinner is truly complete without the enticing aroma and satisfying crunch of Chicken and Cheese Stuffed Pastry Rolls. These delectable treats boast a crispy, flaky exterior that gives way to a succulent, spiced chicken filling generously packed with the gooey goodness of melted cheese. Perfect for a dinner party or a family meal, these rolls elevate any occasion with their delightful flavors and textures.

Ingredients:

Chicken Filling:

– 1 pound boneless & skinless chicken thighs, minced

– 1 tablespoon olive oil

– 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

– 2 jalapeños, seeds removed and diced

– 1 tablespoon minced garlic

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1 teaspoon coriander

– 1 teaspoon oregano

– 1 teaspoon chili powder

– 1 teaspoon paprika

– 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

– 1/2 teaspoon black powder

– 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder

– 1 tablespoon chipotle adobo paste (optional, for a smoky flavor)

– 1 to 2 tablespoons cilantro, finely chopped

– 1 cup shredded mozzarella, more to taste

Other:

– 1 package puff pastry

– 1 large egg + 2 tablespoons milk, whisked together

– Sesame seeds

Instructions:

Make the Filling:

1. In a pan over medium heat, add olive oil and butter. Saute jalapeños and garlic for 2 to 3 minutes.

2. Add minced chicken, salt, coriander, oregano, chili powder, paprika, onion powder, ginger, and black pepper. Mix and sauté until the chicken is browned (6 to 7 minutes).

3. Optional: Add a small splash of chipotle adobo paste for a smoky flavor.

4. Once the chicken is cooked, add cilantro, and let the filling cool completely. Then add shredded mozzarella and mix.

Assemble and Bake:

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

2. Cut each pastry sheet into four equal pieces. Brush all four edges with the egg wash.

3. Place a generous amount of chicken filling along one side of each pastry piece. Fold the puff pastry over the filling, press the edges to seal, and transfer to a tray lined with parchment paper.

4. Use a fork to press down along the four sides, sealing the rolls tightly.

5. Brush the tops with egg wash, make three slits along the top, and sprinkle with sesame seeds or black seeds.

6. Bake at 400°F for 20 to 25 minutes until the rolls are golden brown and fully cooked through.
