Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023: New Dawntrail Expansion, Viper Class, and More!

Ladies and gentlemen, goblins, chocobos, and all you fearless Warriors of Light out there, get ready to take a whimsical journey into the fantastical world of Eorzea as Square Enix serves up a piping hot plate of exciting news from the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023 in London! If you thought your Chocobo couldn’t fly, well, you might just sprout wings after reading this.

Dawntrail Expansion: Rise and Shine, Warriors!

Square Enix is at it again, showering us with more Final Fantasy goodness. This time, it’s the highly-anticipated Dawntrail expansion, set to grace our screens in the summer of 2024. Mark your calendars, cancel your summer vacations, and clear your schedule because this one’s going to be hotter than a Phoenix’s beak on a sunny day.

But wait, there’s more! After nearly a decade of Xbox players feeling like the red-headed stepchildren, they’re finally getting some love. That’s right, Xbox Series X|S users will get to join the realm of Eorzea. It’s about time! We’re thinking they must have missed out on countless Moogle cuddles, and it’s high time they got their share of Hydaelyn’s adventures.

Introducing the Viper Class: Striking from the Shadows

Now, let’s talk about the new Viper job. Because what’s an expansion without new ways to vanquish your foes, right? The Viper class is here to bring a taste of close-range combat with a twist. Armed with two one-handed weapons, these brave souls can channel their inner Edward Scissorhands and unleash havoc. But wait for it – they can combine those two weapons into one gigantic, bad boy of a two-hander. When you’re fighting dragons, why settle for small fries, right?

The Viper’s purpose? To deliver swift and devastating damage. In other words, they’re like the rogue class on steroids. Sneaky, sneaky, stabby, stabby! The only thing missing is a top hat and a monocle, and they’d be the epitome of class.

Crossover Madness: Echoes of Vana’diel and The Path Infernal

Oh, but that’s not all! Square Enix is throwing in some crossover goodness for that extra oomph. First up, we have the Echoes of Vana’diel raid, inspired by the realm of Final Fantasy XI. It’s like taking a magical field trip to your neighbor’s yard, but your neighbor happens to live in a whole different dimension. Expect nostalgia, classic monsters, and probably a Goblin dance party.

And for dessert, they’ve sprinkled a bit of Final Fantasy XVI with “The Path Infernal.” It’s a series of quests that lets you go toe-to-toe with Ifrit and earn a Torgal mount. Because, really, who needs cars or motorbikes when you can ride a flaming steed of doom? Joining you on this adventure is Clive Rosfield, and let’s hope he’s a good travel buddy. You wouldn’t want him hogging all the Chocobo snacks.

Fall Guys, Level Cap, and More!

But that’s not all the Dawntrail expansion has in store for us. It’s a buffet of content! Imagine your favorite dessert table, but instead of cakes and pastries, it’s filled with more fun than you can shake a Moogle pom-pom at.

There’s a Fall Guys collaboration, where you can probably expect your character to clumsily fall down a lot and make the cutest, most humiliating squeaky noises. A level cap increase from 90 to 100, so you can prove you’re not just a run-of-the-mill Warrior of Light, but a Warrior of Absolute Blinding Radiance. New jobs, new dungeons, new gear; it’s like Square Enix is saying, “Why just give you the cake when you can have the whole bakery?”

So there you have it, folks, the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023 delivered a payload of epic announcements, and we can’t wait to dive headfirst into the whimsical world of Eorzea this summer. Until then, keep those Chocobos well-fed, stay radiant, and embrace the hype like a Moogle hugs its favorite Kupo nut!
